While there is no definitive, one-size-fits-all response to this question, it is fairly simple to answer. The short of it: most of the websites we design are online rapidly–within four weeks.
This isn’t always the case, though, so let’s look at what can lengthen this process.
When you hire a Birmingham web designer, you’ll have to make a decision: do you want to be responsible for content (written copy, verbiage, subtitles, photos, graphics, etc.), or do you want your newly hired professional web design company to handle it for you?
It is important to note that writing for the web is much different than writing for any other medium. Website copy isn’t read only by humans, but also Google. Your site’s copy will go a very long way in determining how well your site performs on Google. We feel it is important to let professionals expertly handle this, but some businesses choose to write copy themselves. This does lower the project price.
The vast majority of the time, when our Clients choose to handle content themselves, at some point the project will stall as we wait for content to be submitted. You likely are very busy running your business, so preparing content for us oftentimes falls to the bottom of to-do lists.
There are many benefits to letting us create content for you–ensuring your site is online quickly is one of them.
How complex do you want your site’s design to be? Do you want detailed animation or interactivity? Custom infographics or charts? If so, no problem–we can certainly do it! However, these sorts of details take time, which increase the time needed to design your website.
As we meet to discuss design options, we’ll be sure to let you know the turnaround for each.
Do you need your site to perform custom functions, such as database integrations, payments, data collection, etc.? Excellent! We’ve always believed that the best websites don’t just sit there. However, development takes time if done properly, and we do it the right way. This means in-house, not outsourced to India.
Many sites with development services are still completed and online within a month, but it depends on the complexity of your needs.
We get it, and we fully understand. You have a business to run! If you’re too busy to send us an email to let us know what you thought of our latest draft, no problem! However, please know that these delays add to the turnaround time of your website.
Again, we will never rush you. However, the faster your correspondence with us, the faster we can design your website.
There you have it! These are the four most common determinants of website production time. If you’re in a hurry to get your new site online, just tell us! We can typically work with any schedule, and we’ll do whatever it takes to meet your deadline.
Until next time, Keep Ascending!
